Jon, Wild Mosaic's founder, came to us with a question: how do you show each subscriber their own impact stats in a way they'll want to watch?
Wild Mosaic makes rewilding something anyone can be part of. Subscribers become Rewilders, each connected to their own 3x3m patch of land and following it as it grows wilder. By the end of the year, all those patches add up to a real story: habitat restored, wildlife returning, a mosaic of small plots becoming something much bigger.
A story like that deserves more than a stats page or a year-end email. Our idea was to tell it twice: an end of year impact review film for the whole community, and a personalised reel for every subscriber, showing them their own individual impact.
The Challenge
Year-end impact updates tend to say "we" a lot. Collective numbers matter, but they're hard to feel. A community-wide total for the value created is impressive, yet it doesn't tell any one Rewilder what their part in it was.
For a subscription built on personal connection, that's a real problem. People stay when they can see what they're contributing to. If the end of year message feels generic, it lands like a newsletter, and the connection that makes Wild Mosaic special fades a little.
Underneath sat a practical one. Making a personal film for one person is easy. Making one for every subscriber, each with their own numbers, accurate and on deadline, is not. Editing each version by hand was never going to scale.
The real brief, then, wasn't "make an impact video." It was to tell the collective story and the personal one at the same time, and to make the personal version work at scale.
The Solution
We built the work in two layers.
The impact review film tells the big story: what the Wild Mosaic community achieved together over the year. It brings the year's numbers together into one picture of Wild Mosaic's impact as a company, and sets the look and feel that everything else is built from.
The subscriber reels take that same story and break it down to the individual. Each one is a 55-second cut of the 1:48 main film, with a personalised data screen added in the middle, so every Rewilder sees their own plot name and tile name, the total value the community created, and the value they created personally. One campaign, told 112 different ways.
The key was designing the film as a system, not a single edit. Keeping everything personal to one screen meant the rest of the reel could be crafted once, and that screen could be designed from the start around each subscriber's data, so the personal reels feel crafted rather than templated.
The Process
Before scaling anything, we needed one reel that worked perfectly. We explored how the personal stats should arrive, how numbers count up, how names and figures sit in the frame and how long each moment holds, testing what felt warm and personal rather than like a dashboard.
Then came the build. We built the template in Cavalry so each Rewilder's numbers flowed straight in and rendered as their own film. Along the way we tested the edge cases, long plot and tile names, very small and very large figures, so every version held up, not just the average one.
The Work
The final delivery was one end of year impact review film for Wild Mosaic as a company and 112 personalised subscriber reels, formatted square at 1080x1080 so subscribers could share them straight to social, then handed over ready for Wild Mosaic to send out to their Rewilders. Each reel is unique to its Rewilder, and each one still reads, instantly, as part of the same Wild Mosaic story.
The Impact
Most impact updates speak to everyone at once. These spoke to each person individually. Instead of telling Rewilders what Wild Mosaic did this year, the reels showed them what they did.
The more lasting outcome is the system underneath. The template and data workflow are ready to run again next year with fresh numbers, or to stretch into other moments in a Rewilder's year, so personal video becomes something Wild Mosaic can keep doing, not a one-off.
One film tells people what their community achieved. A personal one tells each of them they were part of it. Every Rewilder deserves to see their tile in the mosaic.
